New Year offers from BCIMO: to coincide with the start of the new year, the Black Country Innovative Manufacturing Organisation (BCIMO) is launching TWO discount schemes for organisations to benefit from when booking its Meeting & Event Spaces in 2024.
From the 8th January 2024, organisations can enjoy a 10% discount in one of the following ways:
ALL organisations, whether new or existing BCIMO customers, will receive 10% off all bookings made within the first 3 months of 2024 (i.e. up to 5th April 2024), for meetings and events taking place before the end of 2024.
For fellow members of BCIMO’s membership organisations, namely the Railway Industry Association (RIA), Rail Forum, RBD Community, UK Tram and the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, BCIMO is extending the offer to all bookings made during 2024, with no event delivery deadline – a perk of being part of one of these fantastic organisations!

The venue, which launched in November 2023, is the Black Country’s newest in the meeting and events arena, with spaces accommodating from 8 to 173 guests. It complements the other unique facilities and services provided at the Very Light Rail National Innovation Centre (VLRNIC), home to BCIMO, including its Rail Development & Test Site, Engineering Laboratories & Equipment and Serviced Offices & Meeting Rooms.
BCIMO has active relationships with each of the member organisations and has worked with each during the course of 2023, including:
RIA/Network Rail – ‘Building Partnerships for Research and Innovation in Rail’
This event, which took place in September 2023, was the centre’s first large-scale event with over 100 delegates. Organised by RIA on behalf of Network Rail, the event utilised the Auditorium for presentations and the Exhibition Hall for stands manned by universities comprising the UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN).
Rail Forum – Light Rail Event
The Rail Forum hosted its first-ever Light Rail Event at the centre in November. The half-day event brought together industry experts, stakeholders, and members to explore the latest innovations, projects, and opportunities in the light rail sector.
UK Tram – T69 Donation
UK Tram recently donated a decommissioned T69 tram which will be renovated as part of R&D at the centre. BCIMO is recording a timelapse of the renovation, which will capture the interior refurbishment of the tram before moving onto the exterior in the new year. Once renovated, the tram will be used as a mule vehicle to support the testing of innovations as part of the Clean Futures Accelerator programme.
Black Country Chamber of Commerce – Black Country Business Club
In December, 28 members visited the centre for the Black Country Chamber of Commerce’s Business Club event. The Business Club provides a platform for individuals to build business relationships and promote their services or products to fellow group members and its wider network of business contacts.
Discussing the launch of the Meeting & Event Space membership offer, Helena Davies, Events Manager at BCIMO, said:
“Level 2 of the Very Light Rail National Innovation Centre offers six unique Meeting & Event Spaces situated above the Rail Development & Test Site. These flexible and modern spaces can support a variety of rail development and test projects, allowing for a comfortable working environment when on site, or a space to showcase technologies to up to 173 guests.
“However, we’re not only open to organisations in the rail industry; our Meeting & Event Spaces are available to all businesses, both locally and nationally, to book for as little as £150 for a half-day hire.
“We offer a turnkey events management service, with local support from caterers and AV technicians. We will also soon be launching our online booking system which will allow customers to book small meetings directly on our website, with an easy-to-use availability calendar.”
