mule vehicle 2 (tram 16)

mule vehicle 2 (tram 16)

Retired AnsaldoBreda T-69 Class tram, donated to BCIMO by UK Tram and bought back to life for use as a test vehicle for innovation thanks to funding from the Clean Futures programme.

The tram has been stripped and deep cleaned, undergone electrical assessment and repair, alongside insulation and resistance testing, and had a new livery installed. A conversion from its original grid-based power source to an off-grid battery system is also planned.

Tram 16 has been utilised by Cohort 1 SMEs on the Clean Futures Accelerator, namely Adelan, BoxTube and Varamis Rail, and will provide significant opportunities to Cohort 2 as well as to other organisations needing to test their technologies in a rail environment.
