composite braiding

Composite Braiding manufactures lightweight, high volume, lower cost structural components which can have a variety of applications across sectors including automotive and rail, replacing heavier more costly alternatives such as steel.

The business, led by composites expert Steve Barbour and his team, is based in Derby and was formally established in 2017, but already inspired by a need to change practices within the existing industry to reduce carbon emissions via automation.

Composite Braiding were initially part of the first cohort of the Clean Futures Accelerator, working with Coventry University on automotive applications, but re-joined the programme with BCIMO to test and demonstrate a gantry structure installed over the VLRNIC’s test track.
